Vyvanse vs Adderall
Vyvanse vs. Adderall. Top NYC Psychiatrist Dr Edward Fruitman, M.D. from Trifecta Health ( http://trifectahealthnyc.com) shares his opinion on this matter. Both amphetamine-based stimulants are used for ADD/ADHD in order to improve attention and concentration for those affected by the disorder. The difference, however, comes from how they are formulated and how they are taken.
Adderall, is more flexible as it can be taken multiple times during the day, depending on the individual’s needs. Vyvanse, on the other hand, is commonly taken once a day. Furthermore, adderall has an immediate release; which can produce a “peak effect” which can be undesirable for those who do not want to feel “over-stimulated”. Wheras, Vyvanse will not produce this “peak effect” as it its release is extended and produces consistent and balanced stimulation throughout the entire day. Furthermore, Vyvanse cannot be broken up or snorted; therefore one must swallow it whole which cuts down on the risk of over-use or abuse.
